SEPTEMBER UPDATE

Report for September
We are glad to let you again what the Lord is doing in us and His people around us that He has enabled us meet and minister to-as the 1800 preacher Dwight L. Moody put it “The World has yet to see what God can do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him… I will try my utmost to be that  man”.(God's Generals).
For most of you who have been following this ministry, you discover that our biggest aim and centrality is the gospel.  As we put our entirety to planting a local church, there are so humongous fruits that God has allowed see and reap; sinners who have repented and turned to Jesus.
We hope God’s grace has continuously shone on you!
We endlessly thank God who initiated an open door to attend Pastoral General meeting that takes place monthly (First Saturday of the Month). As we have interacted with them, most pastors here has got less or no access to christian libraries where they can do extended bible reading or sermon preparations. Due to this fact, as Lungala Bible Ministries and together with Godly and men and women of God, we decided to donate a bible study bible to each pastor that comes to this monthly meeting. So far we have given out 31 study bible copies. Our major aim is to equip church leaders who may have not got access to Bible colleges with necessary information and bible tools.

So many pastors have benefited from this and bellow is a caption of jovial pastors as they received their bibles in a pastoral meeting in Mpigi. Learning how to preach is a problem in most churches here. We trust God that one time we shall have a seminar on “HOW TO PREPARE A BIBLICAL SERMON “.

Children ministry:
Every week when it comes to Sunday the excitement is not only about the fellowship here but also meeting the children in the evening.
I am moved by the strength of their memories for the songs and the first five questions of the children catechism. It feels like we just started yesterday but the achievements are for a life time. The best song so far is “ J for Jesus O for others and so on…”.
Please continue to pray that the Holy spirit leads me as I teach the this catechism which I am translating to Luganda.

As Luganda Bible Ministries we lay roots to bringing the gospel to sinners, and emphatically grounded on discipleship. So that converts and growing Christians develop un immovable relationship with God from a sound mind. We have three programs i.e. Fundamentals Of Faith, and Soul (Christianity Explored). These two programs aim at strengthening believers but also evangelic in nature to none believers. These programs are so far targeting high schools especially prefects (Youths) and we have  many who have joined and moving testimonies from these high school youths.
Schools have been on break and they just opened recently, so we have kicked of with the Word of God, below are students pausing for a picture after  learning the Bible in one of the schools.
Being a new term from holidays I was overjoyed to hear each of the students report in the FOF class. And how they have used these lessons to do ministry in their churches And community. Daphne is using the experience of FOF to evangelize to her siblings, Nakato is doing Sunday school in the home church. Most rewardingly Babirye shared with me her inability to share the gospel because of her backslidden mother who gives her no liberty to go to church, more so being that Babirye  had a problem of biting teeth at night the mother wanted to take her to the gods but she refused due to her defense that she is born again and she can’t displease her God to go to the small gods but only to trust the Lord. I was so encouraged to hear that and each of their projects that have hatched out of this programs.

As we shared with you last month, the biggest enemy of Christ's church in Africa is syncretism! As you read, after learning in this program, she said no to idolatry. We are still encouraging her and praying for her. God is doing great things in these activities. Discipleship is a hard work but it grounds many in the faith of Christianity.
The Lord has blessed us with rain, it has been too hot; and as agriculturalists, for us that is our joy to plant seeds for the season.
Farming has greatly supported us in this ministry, we do use some of our harvests for the work of God. Our passion fruits are really doing well. And most of them are putting flowers/fruits.

·         Thank you for your prayers, we ALWAYS need support for  MORE bibles.
·         Thank you for praying to this ministry and us as well.
·         Continue to pray for God's provision for a tent for our prayer meetings.

August Update

We are always filled with joy as we see the marvellous things that God does in our lives and in the new community that we are living in.

As you read in last months report, God opened a new door for our ministry. We were invited to attend a pastoral general meeting that takes place on the first Saturday of the month, to us that was a big opened door to reach out to pastors in our region.   A great friend of ours donated 48 ‘global study bibles’. We gave out a copy to each pastor who  attended this meeting for the first time.  You can’t imagine the joy and gratefulness that these pastors expressed when they got to have such a tool for reference in their pastoral study.

The church around here and generally in Uganda faces strong forces of ‘syncretism'. National statistics show that Christians (nominal Christians) in Uganda are 85% although you wonder,
who are the people that go to these witch-doctors?
Or involved in corruption cases?
Who are the people behind the building of these shrines?
This shows us that most of these professing Christians are not genuinely Christians - they are not doers of the Word/practitioners.   Due to this, our primary purpose is for our community to receive sound doctrine of the mind/biblical knowledge which through grace will prompt spiritual change hence causing the believer to have a right balanced walk with God. If we believe that God is holy emotionally, this must give raise to our affections to our hearts so that when professing Christians are tempted to worship demons, they should say ‘no' from the heart and mean it!”

One person wrote, ‘’While deep experiences of the presence and power of God can happen in innumerable ways, the ordinary way for going deeper spiritually into prayer is through meditation on scripture, if we pray without meditation … our communion with God becomes poor and distant.’’
This is a strong conviction to us and we want to make sure that the Word of God thrives in our people’s hearts so as to overcome practices of demons (witch-craft) and of ungodliness.

We live in a community embedded with witch-doctors, we have had a burden to reach out to them: recently God gave us grace to meet one of the ladies that believes in charms. I told her “I have got a good gospel track for you to read, and she was welcoming to read it - she told me how she loves the bible”. I thought I was in trouble nevertheless she was happy to read it. The next time I went back she had asked someone to bring her bible and I encouraged her to read it well as she follows those verses in the gospel flyer.     This is joy to us, let’s continue to pray for such people.

Its upon this that our vision for Bibles is going on, although all boxes are finished both Luganda and English. There is a strong hunger for the bibles. One lady came to get a bible and she said “ please help us also to learn the bible”. We told this lady that we have given ourselves to the teaching of God's word to them and she was pleased to hear that.

Mrs. Harriet who had tried to buy a new bible from Kampala over times but she failed due to high costs, here is the Bible she had had for 12 years before getting a new one from Lungala Bible Ministries.
Our congregation is still out growing our living room (on Thursdays we have 8 people and Sundays 10 people), among these are non Christians and they have been receptive to the gospel. There are some Muslim homes that have started being receptive to the gospel and we have used this privilege to preach Christ to them through house to house visits - actually one of them boldly told us that “we love hearing about Jesus, we have no problem”.

Of recently we got an audio Bible Plyer in Luganda that helps people  who can’t read. They listen to it every Sunday evenings and we thank God for a good friend of us who donated this player and now these ladies and as the group grows they are enjoying hearing the word of God in the New Testament in their Language.
Fundamentals of Faith Class (FOF)

High school ministry is on a break until when school starts for next term.   That was our last meeting for August. We had a great final study moment,  it was a question time, reviews and worship. They showed great enthusiasm by asking some mature questions and we will be glad to answer next month when school starts. This ministry focuses on High school students so far- although we would like to have it available in churches. We decided to start with this group as for now and when God has enabled us we could move it further to make it a discipleship class for some churches

Here is Kirungi's testimony for Fundamental Of Faith program at St. Johns as she responded to one of the questions from FOF book “Reading the bible, following it, helping my friends understand it and obeying the gospel in it ”.

Below is the picture as we concluded with this term saying goodbyes till next month. We had a great time of questions and one of the perturbing one was Superiority of NT over OT.
But God is gracious, these students are growing in mind and soul. We are equipping the next leaders in our society.

Childrens Ministry

We thank God for the ministry of the children, we have covered quite a lot . They are growing steadily in knowing Christ. Simon teaches them every Sunday evening. We have 16 children and we have covered bible stories from Adam (creation) up to the story of Joseph.

So far they can answer two questions from the children Catechism (CH) such as
• ‘who made you?’ - God.
• ‘What else did God make'?- All things.

We pray that the Holy Spirit will use what they are now reciting into their souls and grow up fearing God.
Please pray for children materials and refreshments, which in most cases we have to dig into our pockets to provide.

Farming God's Way

We have experienced long months of dry spell, our tomatoes in the nursery beds are dying. However, the passion fruit project is going well. If we get rain next month, we will be able to harvest passion fruits by next year. They have started putting  flowers although the soil needs water. We are building a structure where they can climb and spread, passions do well when they have climbed.
Below is a photo of a passion fruit.

Prayer:-

1.  Please do not get tired to pray for the tent.
2. Please pray for financial support for our Ministry
3. We highly welcome you to partner with us either prayerful or financially to further the work of Christ.

If you feel God is calling you to be a short or long term servant in this ministry, you are welcome to come join us.

JULY Ministry Update

Special greetings from Alex and Simon. (Lungala Bible Ministries-Mpigi -Uganda).

And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me (Mark 8:34).

Even as you read this newsletter about what the Lord is doing in the community of Lungala, we are reminded every day as we pray for our partners and friends who have supported this ministry knowing that it has been a huge sacrifice taking time to pray for the growth of this ministry and some of you who have committed to support financially in anyway.  It has and will never be an easy choice to make but a choice made because we follow Christ who demonstrated this exact command in this passage “carrying the cross”.
We want to thank God for the great things He has been doing in your lives, your ministries and families.
As for us, the Lord has been faithful, and we want to share with you the good news that the Lord has done in our midst. As we have always shared with you, Lungala Bible Ministries continues to grow each day. People have come to the Lord through the preaching of the gospel and the fellowship group at our house has increased.
Geoffrey who received the Lord after 20 years of not attending church; selling & taking drugs and an alcoholic,  his life was entirely a slave to these things  “as he testified”.   There is far much more change in his life now. People who had known him of his past life, wonder and truly say that his life has changed greatly.
Our Thursdays fellowship have grown and we have more people attending including none believers e.g Muslims and Roman Catholics. But they are passionate to hear the gospel. Kiyingi who is a Muslim has many questions and every time we meet we try our best to answer them from scripture and as we talk, he is slowly accepting the deity of Jesus Christ.

Below is the photo of our Thursday fellowship:

Giving study Bibles to Pastors in Mpigi Town
A few months ago we shared with our friend about the situation of pastors in Mpigi and the need to avail them at least a resource where they can do an extra study for their preaching and we thank God that through her we were able to get “GLOBAL STUDY BILES” which we distributed to Pastors during their monthly meeting in Mpigi town. This idea was conceived when a pastor came to our home wanting two bibles and we discovered the need for pastors to have study bibles.  We got an opportunity to introduce this ministry to them and they were so happy to hear about what the Lord is doing. As we have interacted with them, there is a need in the future to have preaching seminars for pastors.     To learn how to preach, at least the majority would need this. This meeting included pastors from different churches.

Children Ministry:
God works in mysterious ways indeed as William Cooper put it, we started by first unvailing the  basic truth through telling stories about creation, fall of man and the redemptive plan as we aim at introducing the Children Catechism in the nearby future.  The most amazing thing is that even the Muslim family kids are also part of these classes. They are enjoying stories about creation and the death of Jesus on the cross.

FOUNDATION OF FAITH CLASSES (FOF):
The high school students now they can navigate through the entire Bible with great ease, something which wasn’t there before. We can also sense growth in the knowledge of their faith and relationship with God which is attained from these classes. Thanks to our friends who provided the evangelistic trucks; we gave these students to read for their friends who are not saved yet hence they can now use as they evangelize to their fellow students.

Farming God’s way:
We do not only labour in preaching the Word of God, but we are also practical farmers. We plant NZ fruits as well as Ugandan.     Most people have liked our produce and our way of farming.    Now that August season is already at the door, our planting is due this month and we have all the nursery seeds ready for planting in few weeks.

As we conclude, we would like to invite you to come and serve God with us, if you feel God is calling you to Uganda. Come and we share our gifts to build the body of Christ Jesus in this community. It can be short term mission or long term, whatever you feel God is calling you to do.
  •   Pray for this growing ministry, if five more people adds to the daily attendance, we might not fit in our living room. We have trusted the Lord for a tent where we can shift and have enough room.
  • Pray for me and Simon so that we continue to heed to the Word of God unreservedly.
  • Pray for this Muslim man (Kiyingi Abubakari) who has showed special interest in the gospel to come to Jesus.
  • Pray for continuous relationship with all pastors in our district Mpigi.

JUNE 2016 LUNGALA BIBLE MINISTRIES UPDATE

Its always a great joy for us to know that there are people far away from Lungala who have God's work here on their heart and even as we update you about the things that have happened here in the month of June we have always seen God's Grace in each and everything that has been done this month and yet we know it’s a light thing in the sight of the LORD…(2Kings 3:18)

Church Planting
Most people who come for our fellowship groups both on Thursdays and Sundays are people from around our community, mostly we only get to see them on Sundays being that during week days most people are in their gardens.

F.O.F CLASSES ( FOUNDATION OF FAITH CLASSES);  this month yet again we thank God for our friends who have donated the FOF materials that we are using to conduct these classes. FOF Classes are one of a kind in Uganda that aims at deriving believers into the doctrines of the Christian faith that cements the assurance of salvation, discovering of the believers gifts and knowing God's word and equipping them to share it.    We have started this project with two schools (St. Johns and Kisugu Secondary School) all these schools are in Mpigi -  the District we are in.   At St. Johns there are 12 students that have enrolled and Kisugu there are 16 including one teacher.

Group Photo of FOF Class at Kisugu Secondary School

The goal of this project is to empower these students who are in one way or another involved or aspiring servants in their home churches to be able to serve with the knowledge of the word. This in the future also is seen as a suitable programme for the University students in Uganda God willing.

Group photo of the FOF Class at St Johns Secondary School.

Children Ministry

The CH Classes (Sunday School classes ), fellowships have shifted from Fridays to Sundays being that most of them have gone back to school and they can only be available on Sunday Evenings. We also thank God for a friend who donated a good material book (the Jesus Story Book) that we are using.

Farming God's Way

This has been a month of hot sun and completely no rain, sadly we lost the tomatoes that we had planted lately because they could not with stand the hot sun. Hover those that we planted first are ready for harvest and we have sofa sold 7 basin full of tomatoes. Glory be to God!

Some of the “farming God's way” produce.

Prayer Requests
1.       Please pray for the FOF classes to go on successfully
2.       The temporary tent is still needed to put up a shelter for the people being that our seating room is so small.
3.       Pray for the Rain being that hear we rely on natural means t be able to plant crops.
4.       Thank God for both of us healing from malaria in this past month.

May Updates on Ministry in Lungala

Month of May Report

We wish to greet you again in the most precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We hope that He has kept you both well in His grace
It’s our joy again to bring to you our monthly ministry report of what God has enabled us achieve for His kingdom. We hope that your souls will be invigorated with the wonderful things that God is doing in our community Lungala (2 Timothy 1:4)!

Humble beginnings;

We want to thank God almighty for this burgeoning ministry that He has entrusted with us and other believers who have a heart for His kingdom to expand in Africa. We so far have Five ministry departments which are growing by the grace of God, as we do this church plant such as below.

Ø  Sunday Fellowship
Ø  Thursday Devotion/Fellowship
Ø  High school ministry/ In-depth Bible reading
Ø  Children Ministry
Ø  Farming God’s way

     Sunday Fellowship

Under this, we gather every Sunday with some of the local people around our village. More than ten people do come for this fellowship. Our lounge gets filled up and space is becoming smaller. We now fear talking about our prayer meetings just in case that we don’t get more people than our house can accommodate as you see in the photos bellow. Our meetings involve believers and none believers such as Muslims e.t.c. We have so far had Two youths Muslims get saved, and two more (Four people).
One time we had a Muslim father visit us with his two daughters and a boy, one of his daughter received Jesus and the father was ok with that after we had shared the gospel. This is God’s power not man’s!

Thursday Devotion/Fellowship

Here we meet for devotions and If any one went home over the weekend and has a question to do with his/her bible reading can always ask during this fellowship and we try to find answer by God’s grace in the Bible. We also pray for one another and get to study the Word deeply through interactions. We thank God for our friends who have tireless provided us with bibles and other bible materials to use. We have 12 bibles in circulation, this helps us preach when people have bibles in their hands. May God keep using you as you reach out to our people even though you are far away from Africa.

Children ministry

We meet at someone’s compound, where we can get enough space for Children. Children's programs are not included in most of village churches thus children are left lingering around the village. And thats why we felt the need to reachout to them. After the children ministry started this month, I was over joyed by one of the mother of the kid that attends the CH class (Children Catechism). She was all happy narrating how the daughter shared with them about the creation story that I had taught them that previous week. This feels like a humble beginning but this testimony has helped me know that CH class can be one of the ways to reach unbelieving parents in Lungala. Some of those bible stories are being heard for the first time to these kids.

Farming God’s way

We will not get tired of thanking you for your great initiative for the land. “Farming God’s way” is a project aimed at teaching our local people to use improved means of digging and seeds to harvest high yields through developing trusting in the Lord. Through loving people here, last month we supplied 25 sacks of sweet potatoes seeds. We advised people to plant them as they are quick to improve means of income quickly.

Under this project, we have been able to plant over 6,000 plants of tomatoes on our land. Some of them have really come out well and  promising as you see bellow;

We want to thank you for your willingness to take time and read our ministry report, it’s not us but the Lord who has used us and other loving saints to achieve all this, “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen(NASB).

We really appreciate your prayers and financial support, may the good Lord continually bless you.
Ø  Please continue to pray for this church plant, its growing bigger each day, thus we need a tent for enough shelter .
Ø  Pray for High school In-depth bible reading, we have to check them out and see their progress.
Ø  Pray for us for God’s sustainability and strength in His word that we remain faithful servants.
Thank you;

Amen.

April 2016 Updates

MINISTRY ACTIVITIES

We greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ with the words of Paul Phil 1:9 that call us to be concerned about growing more in the Knowledge of God’s Word and Discernment.

We are so thankful to the Lord for the great work He is doing in us for the cause of expanding His kingdom on earth. The month of April has kicked in with many surprises, more so in terms of ministry opportunities.

Bellow are pictures of fellowship meeting at our house on Sunday prayers. We thank  God for the kids who come to be with us.

HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACHES:

On the 25th of April 2016 our prayer was answered when St Johns Senior Secondary School opened the door wide to reach to their students with the gospel. This was an answered prayer.  Our primary focus is to see local people, young and old grounded in the Word themselves. And our work is to expound it to them so that they find it easy in learning it and practicing it.  In this we have in plan to emphasize the INDEPTH BIBLE READING PROGRAMS (COLLOSSIAN CHALLENGE ) this program is more or less like Romans project but this is a shorter book which will in turn motivate them to do the same thing with other books such as ROMANS PROJECT.

We will also be preaching the gospel in this school once a week on their school assemblies. On the other hand we are still getting to reach to another neighboring High schools extend there the same program. Our area has got a an increased groups of Muslims, so we thought if we pass via schools-this can be a good trend to reach out to them. A amazingly, most of the schools have opened up for us.

C.H CLASSES (children catechism classes)

We found out lately that in our village there is about 50 children below ten years and most of these have never heard the gospel that is to say child evangelism. Therefore I (simon) will set up two hours a week to teach catechism to children below ten years of age in our village.

BIBLE PROJECT

We have so far given 10 bibles to people in LUNGALA village and some of our congregation members. Each one of these have a commitment fee of 10,000.UGX equivalent to 3 US Dollars. Our congregation has grown to 12 members without the little children. So far we have two people who have received the Lord. This man (in his forties-Geoffrey) says “he had not been at church for the last 20 years. I lived my life for all these years”.

We wish to thank  our friends who have tirelessly provided both English and Luganda bibles to these people. The bibles here have gone high in prices but we have been able to reduce the cost for the local people to afford them. We charge them a little cost just to initiate responsibility. Geoffrey this last Sunday got himself a bland new Luganda bibleJ

The Holy Spirit has transformed Him (no more drugs or alcoholism).

Salima also a high school student in our neighborhood has continued to grow in the Lord, and she since we started prayer meetings have always attended on Sundays; she hasn’t got her personal bible though. To us that is the joy, seeing people re-discovering the primary purpose for their lives before God. What a beauty!

FARMING GOD’S WAY:

In the beginning of this month we have been receiving rain very well and we have been doing lots of planting that include Vegetables, Maize, Sweet corns, sweet potatoes, lettuces, bananas, and passion fruits and tomatoes. These crops are many but some of them are planted on a very small scale. All the 2 acres are on full use and the left part is designed as a compound.

Prayer request:

• We need children materials and Bibles so that we can make them available for the people who come for our fellowship or those around the village that want to buy them at a cheaper rate.
• We also need a tent to put on our compound where people can sit during our fellowships since our living room may be smaller each meeting. We shall put this on our compound.

February Update

FARMING GOD'S WAY

It has been hot for the past 3 weeks so we have been relying on irrigation to grow vegetables. Its equivalent  to ten Jerri cans of water each day. Some of the crops we have grown are sweet corns, Carrots, pumpkins and sugar canes.

The whole land is slashed and fenced now which has given us a break from tresspassers most especially those going to the spring to fetch water.

As am writing today, last night we received rain so we are excited to start on cultivating the land and make it ready to plant passion fruits and more sweet corns.

MINISTRY:

It has been three weeks since we started Thursday Fellowships and Sunday services  in our living room and God surprised us by bringing people.   We found out that the living room is no longer enough to hold these fellowships, Therefore we are believing God for a  tent and plastic chairs.  Indeed  the harvest is plenty here but the true harvesters are few, we thank God who called us to reach out to this community.

Every member of our fellowship is given a Daily bible reading guide and a bible at an affordable cost as a way of creating ownership to these materials. Children have shown interest in coming for these fellowships which is requiring us to have children Sunday school, we are believing God for a genuine Sunday school teacher.

Alex & Simon - Personal Testimonies

Tumwesigye Alex (How I received Jesus Christ)

I was born in 1984 and I received Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour when I was in Primary seven (about the age of 14-15), in Primary Six preachers used to come to our school but I never took it serious until Primary Seven. One of the main reasons why I received Jesus is that the more I heard the gospel the more I felt destitute. Both our parents at this stage had died long time ago and there was seemingly no help for us (me and Simon). We did not have people who were so close to us that they could encourage us, thus hearing the gospel that Jesus could comfort us and be there for us and that He has good plans for me now and forever it really meant a lot to me.
As far as I can remember, I did not have much parental love as I should have, being promised that Jesus could comfort me and be in charge of my entire life was a life opening words that I have never had in the entire life. I kept thinking about these words and before the end of the year of Primary Seven, I confessed Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. This was a life transforming statement both spiritually and physically. This statement marked my first time encounter to read the bible, in all my life I had never read the bible (Some of you, your children have read the bible right from childhood), to me it was not the case.
I had to wash clothes for someone to be able to use her bible because I had discovered that this person was not a bible reader and yet I could use it. So, I worked for it (Good News Bible).
Time came when life became very tough, school fees to continue studies was hardly seen, after Primary Seven, time came when none of us could spend a day without falling sick. Our immune systems weakened to the point that one could fall sick, no medication, no enough for, no good clothing hence our lives deteriorated each day. One day I saw my brother Simon very sick to the point that I thought he would pass a way.  I was very scared, I lived in tears. There was a woman who used to come and visit us, she found Simon laying on ground with his eyes turning to a strange colour and all she could say was “where are your parents, where do you come from?”  When I remember some of these stories, tears roll in my eyes. One when I was in high school I remember suffering from malaria for almost a week, this lady in our village church comes to our ramshackle mud-covered house we lived in with a plate of cooked cassava and beans. She was like a God sent angel that day and indeed God had sent her.
When one of us got some strength, we worked in a stone quarry to be able to get food of the day and also to raise school fees (though some church members stood with us). To recover from sickness was the mercy of God. There was nothing like balanced diet. This hard life happened approximately for four years.
Now, where was my Good News Bible in all this? From the time I got it, I had read it from cover to cover. Through God’s divine sovereignty, I had learnt how to pray and fast. I woke up in the nights to pray for my brother when he was too sick to pray. He read for me scripture when I could not raise my head. In the first two years of my work with God, I felt He did not hear me, I felt He was very far from me. This caused me to hunger for the truth through reading and praying. After these two years, in the midst of hard trials, I felt and fully convinced that God was with us and that at a right time He would remember us (one of the scriptures that encouraged me was Luke 18:1-6, Psalm 23, 121). Up to now we are very much convinced that if we did not have this conviction of God, we would have died. To this time I have kept this bible just to help me always remember how God has been with us. I read it for 5 years, covers grew old and replaced them with cement cover until 2008 when we met the Graingers who gave me a new NASB bible (New American Standard Bible).
We think that one of the diseases that greatly weakened our immune systems is malaria and water-borne diseases. These diseases are very easy to treat but millions of Africans today die due to lack of treatment or medication which only can cost 6 Dollars.
To end the long testimony short, in 2008 we met the Graingers through Shannon while we were working on SOS land in Luwero. On this land SOS gave us 30, 000 sh. Per month both of us. At this moment, when we fell sick at least we were sure that SOS could offer treatment at a right time.
We were so happy to meet the Graingers, we did not know or even believe that they could ever think of living in the village with us. I used to hear Uncle Dean say that they are coming to live there and sometimes kept asking, “are you sure your coming to live in Luwero?”. I thought they were joking. I thought they could not manage living in a house where there is no power and not city water.  But time proved when they came and we lived seven of us in a smaller house and later Daniel Rogers joined us. They welcomed us, shared with us their food and took us as part of their family and up to now we have continued to enjoy being with them and how God has used them to see us through hard life. They have supported us through high school and theological college and now we have a bachelor in theology.
Through them we were able to see the Nile for the first time and also being on a boat ride: which was very scaring for me. I will not forget the times when they took us to Mukono on weekends and we took a drink of Soda during dinner. For us to have a drink of Soda was for Christmas seasons.
Conclusively; most people in Uganda are still living like the way we lived. I and Simon we are very sure that God has called us to instill hope in many Ugandans just as it was done to us. There are thousands of our people who can’t afford able just like the way I was, these people God has a second chance for them to live. And we know that we are the beneficiaries to bring this hope through the gospel. Just like the way we realized that God is with us through daily studying His Word, there are thousands of our people who can still live by encouraging them that God loves them and He has a future plan for them.
And as you hear or read this testimony, pray for me that God will make every way possible that I can share the gospel in our society where witchcraft and human dependence have gained root instead of the grace of God.  It is my vision to see church in Uganda fully equipped with truth which our people want so that we all live an obedient life. To the Lord God all might be the glory for now and forever.

Simon Tumukwasibwe -My testimony:

I was born in 1989, by Angelo and Enid, my father was a senior four leaver working in a hotel but I am not sure of the particular job he was doing there. My mother was a house wife with no education. I am a third born of both parents but unfortunately we were told that the first born died during birth.
We are two boys from our late mother as the first wife to our late father. Both my parents died when I was a round age nine.  My parents out of our research we came to know that they died of Aids. My mother died first and after two years my dad followed.
Being that we never stayed with our father much  we never felt the effect of his death and I didn’t attend the burial, unlike our mother who pained us so much because she was everything to us and when she died we began to face the world on a different side of life, filled with lack, hunger, pain and grief.
I began to move from family to family. First we lived with our step mother and up to now I still bear the scars of torture on my body that she inflicted on me. Then my uncle in Mbarara western Uganda offered to help and sent us to school for the first time and his efforts came to an ended when I got to primary three.
It was time as this when life had hit the rock bottom that my uncle from Kampala accepted to take us on to help us continue with school. It was at this time that I had my first foot into the city and having shoes on my feet. unfortunately  My first pair never fitted and I took it normal because I never knew how the fitting shoes felt. This good life did not last but it only took five years.
While at my uncle’s home with his ten children I used to work with my untie at her retail shop. It was here that I got the opportunity to go to church because she loved going to church. It was at this church that I got the opportunity to hear the gospel and I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart.
It was one day that I was hit by a night mare when I was told by my uncle in Kampala one morning that he could not continue paying my school fees because money had become less. And he said that we should get out of his house and from that day we were made homeless for three months. In these three months we got casual jobs that enabled us to save money for small house materials (mattress, plastic cups and a basin) and little money to pay for third term for our senior two and enough to rent a five by five mud house in the village. In Mukono district.
It was in these three month that I began to take my relationship with the Lord seriously, it got me deeper into prayer and trusting upon the Lord alone for my future. It was at this point that the Lord called me to serve Him the rest of the life that I am to have. I said yes but I did not know the cost and since then I have not seized to see God’s grace upon my life even when I have gone through challenges.
During this time I looked for support from different orphanages including watoto and UWSO but they did not take me on because I was old compared to the age they were taking on children. Some times I wished to be older because of responsibilities and some times I wished to be younger to deny them. In all this wind and time of lack paying my own school fees and church members coming in to help I was able to finish my O-level certificate in 2007.
I started renting as early as senior two, I went to six schools in my entire O-level because of lacking school fees. But by God’s grace every time I sat for exams or sat down to read for tests I passed them and I was permitted to go to the next class.
It was after O-level that I was connected to a certain organization in Mukono that we struck a deal with them to work for them for one year and they pay for me High school. It was after few months in the jungle of Luwero working on the organization land that we got to meet the Graingers. We worked together as if we were one family and treated us so kindly and got to know us so well and about our past. we used to stay in the same poor mad house in the jungle on the land we were working on. At one point we had to argue for the entire week  trying to prove them how they cannot manage jungle life but they proved us wrong. This made our relationship with them even better because I was a nurse for each one of them that got jiggers. As if jiggers were not enough but mosquito bites also followed and then malaria also and we went through all this together.
Our relationship grew that our prayer was answered through them when God used them to commit to help pay for our school fees for our entire high school in a very good school in Mukono. Their kindness did not end there but it included even all our life expenses indeed they took us on as their real children in “African” and even up to this moment when I am a graduate with a bachelors in theology we have related as families. The Graingers have supported us since we met them and until this moment we still rely and live on their support. We have learnt how to be responsible men because of being part of their family even now we continue to seek guidance and advice on some things from them. Every good thing that we have or known about managing a family we have learnt it from them.
Being that God called us, all our life we have been serving Him. Since senior two I have been doing evangelism (door to door), bible studies and others where ever I have got opportunities. After my high school the Lord called me to do theological studies so as to enable me serve with clarity and knowledge of the Bible. I learnt new things and my view of ministry was sharpened, now I can stand with boldness and preach to God’s people talking about the Christ I know. My theological studies have helped me even to serve as a missionary staff in Proclaim-Africa for the past two years.
Now I know that I can serve God well where ever He puts me and I believe that I will use all this knowledge and experience I have got to serve God in an independent ministry that God is calling us to up country in Uganda.  All I have done, it is God who has used me and he is still using me to reach out to his people in this country through the education He gave me and the experience he enabled me go through. Isaiah 25:12.

Urgent Operation needed

We went to fetch water and Well we found a man in his thirtees in a poor house in a swamp. The most breath taking thing is the man was diagnosed with a hernia two months ago supposed to have been operated one month ago. He has tried countless times to get 150,000 (nz$67) money for operation but all in vain so we found him almost dying. What me and Alex prayed over and thought of was to sacrifice that money from our food budget and have him operated on and now he is doing well. the most joyous thing is that he accepted Christ and repented his sins. When he recovers he will be part of our fellowship.
